According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA (NationalHighwayTrafficSafetyAdministration) website, due to engine failure, the Volkswagen Group is preparing to recall 168,000 from the U.S. market, Volkswagen and Audi models. It is reported that the recall involves a total of three models :2009-2012 Jetta sedan and mid-sized Sedan Wagon ,2010-2012 model Golf compact car, and the 2010-2012 Audi A3 models. Which the total number of 161,144 Jetta and Golf cars, Audi A3 a total of 7,131 units, a total of 168,275 vehicles recalled.
This recall several models equipped with 2.0-liter diesel engine. Public submissions to NHTSA that the diesel engine fuel nozzle vibration can produce great pressure, the formation of small cracks, which may lead to the occurrence of fuel leakage fuel injection system, or even cause fire. However, according to Volkswagen's argument that the failure so far has not really cause a fire and casualties. Volkswagen also said that 20 percent of the recalled vehicles to use fuel injection line may be inappropriate material, resulting in fuel nozzle defective parts.
Volkswagen said the NHTSA, the recall will officially begin in November 2011. Volkswagen will be affected vehicles will be a free replacement fuel nozzle, and install shock absorber to reduce vibration.
